Biography
In 1993, Mr. UEMURA joined Ministry of International Trade and Industry (now METI), the Government of Japan.
From 2012 to 2015, he served as Director of Information Technology Security Policy Office, METI (since 2014, he also simultaneously served as Senior Planning Officer of National Information Security Center, Cabinet Secretariat (now National center of Incident readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC)) for a year).
From 2015 to 2017, he served as Counsellor of National Strategy office of Information and Communication Technology, Cabinet Secretariat.
He has been involved in digital policies related to securing control system, promoting international cooperation, strengthening governmental ability for cybersecurity, and promoting DX.
In his career as an administrative officer, he had experience earning a master’s degree in the United Kingdom and working for the UK office of a Japanese government-related organization. He was also seconded to Nagasaki Prefectural Government for about four years. Besides, he worked for recovering Fukushima from the nuclear disaster caused by Great East Japan Earthquake at the Reconstruction Agency.
He was assigned to his current position in July 2022.
